Top 3 SRH batters to watch out for in IPL 2024

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) haven’t had a great time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since 2021 as they are the only team along with Punjab Kings, who haven’t qualified for playoffs since then. Witnessing their team’s unprecedented decline in the last three seasons, the SRH team management spent INR 30.80 crore in the 2024 IPL auction to buy six players.

Among six players, Australia’s Pat Cummins is one of the names who went to the franchise for a whopping sum of NR 20.50 crore. The Australia captain might be seen leading the Orange Army in the upcoming season of the cash-rich tournament. Cummins’ responsibility will be to reinforce SRH’s bowling unit, while some names will have to produce quality knocks from their bats. Noting SRH’s squad after the 2024 IPL auction, let’s know three batters who can help the 2016 champions do big in the upcoming competition.

Here are three batters to watch out for in Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH):

3. Aiden Markram

South Africa batter Aiden Markram was the captain of SRH in 2023, but he couldn’t change the fate of the team with his leadership and batting skills. However, forgetting his previous failures, he will look to be effective with his bat and justify his role in the team.

The right-handed Protea batter is currently serving SRH’s Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the 2023-24 SA20 League. Serving SRH’s sister franchise in his country’s T20 league, he has looked decent with his bat, scoring 219 runs in eight innings of 10 matches at a strike rate of 134.35.

2. Travis Head

SRH signed up Australia opener Travis Head for INR 6.80 crore to strengthen their batting line-up. The southpaw looked sensational in the 2023 World Cup and helped his side lift the sixth World Cup trophy. He chipped in with 329 runs in six matches at an average of 54.83 in his team’s magnificent title win.

Head’s scintillating performance in the marquee One-Day International (ODI) event impressed some IPL franchises, and they bid for him, but in the end, the Orange Army succeeded in reserving his services. The stylish opener will feature in the cash-rich league after six years, and he will endeavour to make his comeback grand with his performance.

1. Heinrich Klaasen

Heinrich Klaasen was SRH’s most successful batter in the previous season, with 448 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 177.07. Before the 2024 IPL edition, Klaasen is in great touch with his bat, and if he continues his excellent form in the upcoming competition, SRH fans can have a great time ahead.

In the 2023-24 SA20 League, the South Africa stalwart has put up a great show for Durban’s Super Giants (DSG), notching up 373 runs in 11 matches at a breathtaking strike rate of 202.71. The Protea wicketkeeper-batter has been looking formidable with his bat in white-ball cricket for a long time, and he will look to dominate bowlers in the upcoming IPL installment as well.
