Five-time champions Mumbai Indians have unveiled their new jersey ahead of 2024 edition of Indian Premier League. Renowned designer Monisha Jaising conceptualised the new kit as she drew inspiration from the vibrant hues of Mumbai Indians’ iconic blue and gold colour. In the video released by the franchise, it is seen that the fans are wearing the jerseys with the labels of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishan Kishan and the newly-appointed captain Hardik Pandya on the back.
Speaking about the new design, Monisha mentioned that the jersey defines the spirit of Mumbai and the franchise's relentless energy, diversity, and undying optimism. She explained that her goal was to capture the design that would inspire both players and the supporters who will be wearing it.
“The spirit of Mumbai & MI has always been a force to be reckoned with, and it lies in the relentless energy, diversity, undying optimism, the heart and the hard work that drives its favourite team and fans. It is this very essence that I have tried to capture in the design, inspiring both players and fans, knowing that they carry with them the heart of Mumbai and Mumbai Indians,” Monisha said in an official statement.
