Gary Kirsten, Gujarat Titans' (GT) batting coach, opened up about his admiration for people in India during the training session ahead of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is scheduled to commence on March 22, Thursday. GT, the 2022 champions are currently training hard in the nets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Gujarat-based franchise will take on Mumbai Indians in their opening game on March 24 at their home stadium.
GT took to their official social media handle and shared a glimpse of the practice session. In the video, Kristen was spotted carrying heavy fielding equipment on his way back after the practice. Meanwhile, a team member took it from Kirsten. However, the former India coach humorously questioned the doubt in his strength. The staff member clarified it was merely a gesture of support, leaving the coach impressed by the respect, and said, "That's what you guys do in India, you are always very respectful."
Sharing the video, the franchise captioned the post, "Guru Gary's love for India."

India's batting sensation Shubman Gill is all set to lead Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2024. The youngster took over the captaincy after Hardik Pandya was signed by his previous franchise Mumbai Indians in a high-profile trade. The 24-year-old batting maestro assumes captaincy of a team that clinched the IPL title in their maiden season in 2022 and became runners-up last year.

The Punjab-born cricketer had a stellar season in 2023. Gill also won awards for Most Fours (85), Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Season, and Gamechanger of the Season, further highlighting his caliber.
