The 48th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 was played between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday, April 30. After a low-scoring 47th IPL 2024 clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC), fans witnessed yet another low-scoring contest as the fondly called Paltans were restricted to just 144 runs while batting in the first innings.

LSG skipper KL Rahul won the toss and invited MI to put runs on the scoreboard. LSG bowlers were on the point from the start as they got some big wickets inside the powerplay. They were able to get rid of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya inside the first 6 overs.

However, with the help of Nehal Wadhera and Tim David’s crucial contributions, MI managed to get a fighting total. Considering the batting lineup of the Super Giants, the target didn’t look much on the board initially. LSG came up with a new opening pair as skipper Rahul entered with Arshin Kulkarni who replaced Quinton de Kock. Sadly, the 19-year-old batter didn’t have a great outing as he registered an embarrassing golden duck. However, Rahul and in-form batter Marcus Stoinis steadied the ship and stitched a 58-run stand for the 2nd wicket.

The star Australian all-rounder smashed a magnificent half-century but went back to the pavilion before winning the match for his team. LSG lost some quick wickets in the middle but Nicholas Pooran held his nerves and helped the team to win the match by 4 wickets. With this win, LSG have now moved to the 3rd spot in the points table replacing Chennai Super Kings (CSK). On the other hand, MI are still at the 9th spot with only 6 points in 10 matches.
