One of the most iconic places in the 'seven sisters' region and the gateway to northeast India, the panoramic city of Guwahati is soon going to become the cricketing hub in the region. Notably, as per a recent announcement by Devajit Lon Saikia, who is the Joint Secretary of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), in the next one and half years timeline, the city is going to get a new international stadium with all the world-class facilities.

For constructing the stadium, the Indian board zeroed in on an area situated in North Guwahati by the name Amingaon and the work has already commenced in full swing. It is worth mentioning that so far the city has been hosting the IPL games and other international fixtures at Barsapara stadium. However, this move comes in a bid to connect other North East states and Assam with mainstream cricket.

Besides, the stadium will boast state-of-the-art facilities both for the visiting players and cricket aficionados alike. Consequently, this will boost the skill development of the players in the region and will also gain prominence for hosting big cricketing events in the future.
