IPL 2024: Best all-rounders from each team

All-rounders always play essential roles in cricket as they make essential contributions to their teams in all departments of the game. In the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well, there are several instances to recount when all-rounders proved themselves with their scintillating performances.

Back in 2016, when Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) registered their only IPL title win, beating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by eight runs in the final at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Ben Cutting displayed indomitable spirit for the former and chipped in with his unbeaten knock of 39 off 15 and a sensational spell of 2/35 in four overs. His unprecedented performance played an instrumental role in making SRH champions.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI), who are the most successful teams in the league with five titles respectively, always go to the tournament with quality all-rounders. In the upcoming IPL edition, all sides will want their all-rounders to showcase their mettle again to help them clinch the distinguished trophy. With fans heading towards the 2024 IPL season, let’s discuss some all-rounders who can be impactful for their teams.

Here are all-rounders who can do wonders for their teams in the 2024 IPL edition:

Deepak Hooda looked completely out of rhythm for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 2023 season. The all-rounder flopped in every department of the game and came under fierce criticism. Despite his horrendous performance, LSG didn’t lose faith in him and included him in their retention list before the 2024 auction.

In the upcoming season, Hooda will strive to be at his best to help LSG have a great campaign. The 28-year-old looked in excellent touch with his bat in the 2023-24 Vijay Hazare Trophy. With 480 runs in nine matches for Rajasthan, he ended up as the third-leading run-getter in the competition. Hooda will look to carry his fine form to the cash-rich league.

Delhi Capitals (DC) missed their regular captain Rishabh Pant’s leadership in 2023 as the team put up a terrible show for their fans under Australian legend David Warner. In 2024, Pant is likely to make a comeback in the tournament, and with his presence, DC’s batting will be strengthened and they can be back to winning ways.

Capitals will also expect their all-rounder Axar Patel to step up and deliver match-winning numbers to them with both bat and ball. The 30-year-old will assist Kuldeep Yadav to reinforce DC’s spin-bowling unit. He will have to make some important contributions as a lower-middle-order batter. In recent matches for India, he has looked decent as a bowler which will bring joy to the faces of Delhi’s supporters.

The young Protea made it to the retain list of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) before the 2024 auction and now, in the upcoming T20 extravaganza, he will have to prove his franchise’s decision correct with his performance.

Jansen will look forward to giving his best for SRH as he had a great time as an all-rounder in the 2023 World Cup held in India. Appearing in nine games of the marquee ODI tournament, he scored 157 runs at a strike rate of 110.56 and took 17 wickets at an economy of 6.52.

This time, he will look to play his part exceptionally and help his team clinch the coveted trophy. The 25-year-old will be a key member of PBKS as he will provide support to the team’s pace-bowling attack. Along with bowling, he also has the potential to produce match-winning knocks as a finisher.

He accumulated 192 runs and six wickets in eight matches for the KKR-owned outlet. His experience will be crucial for the two-time IPL champions to fare well in the competition coming ahead.
