Eminent international names such as Shaun Pollock, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Lasith Malinga, and Trent Boult were once vital members of the side. Riding on their bowling efforts, the Mumbai-based outlet pocketed several games. Noting the glorifying past of MI, let’s revisit the five-time champion side’s five best bowling performances.
Here are MI’s five best bowling performances of all time in IPL:
5. Trent Boult’s 4/18 versus Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2020
Trent Boult played an instrumental role in making MI champions in 2020. Pairing up with Jasprit Bumrah, the New Zealand stalwart gave some incredible match-winning moments to the team. Against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Boult showcased his mettle and guided his team to a comfortable 10-wicket win.
The Kiwi speedster bowled a four-over spell against the Men in Yellow and picked up Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sam Curran. He recorded 4/18 figures with the ball and ended up as the Player of the Match for his scintillating performance.
4. Lasith Malinga’s 5/13 against Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2011
Former Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga served MI from 2009 to 2019 and during those 10 years, he achieved numerous records for the team with his sensational bowling. Back in 2011, he became the first Mumbai bowler to clinch a fifer in the cash-rich league.
Against Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils), at the Arun Jaitley Stadium (then Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium), the Sri Lanka speedster wreaked havoc on batters and folded the hosts on a mere 95. Among his five hunts, Delhi stalwarts David Warner and Venugopal Rao were included. Riding on his bowling effort, MI registered an incredible eight-wicket win.
3. Alzarri Joseph’s 6/12 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2019

He picked up all six wickets for MI in just one game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
The Caribbean player looked ruthless and wrecked the Orange Army. He bowled 3.4 overs and took six wickets to help his team contain SRH on 96 and defend a low total of 136 successfully.
